H5P---A Tool for Online Interaction

Hey! Nice to see you again 💁

👾Covid-19 has changed our life to some extent, right? Like the way of teaching. In China, we are used to the traditional teaching mode, teachers would deliver the content to students face to face and students accomplish their homework on paper. But because of the covid, all the citizens have to stay at home at the beginning of the outbreak, which challenged the way of teaching.

💬I regard the changes as a double-edged sword. Although it may bring inconvenience to teachers due to the new way of teaching, combining online and offline learning would benefit us more than just adopting one or the other. And also it boosts the development of online education courses set up by education companies, which would provide more useful information for students.

At that time, all the teaching modes switch to online teaching, which is a virtual learning environment. We would use applications, like Zoom, to meet our students online "face to face".

SO, you may wonder, under this circumstance (online teaching) what could we do to interact more with our students online?

Or, what could we do to check whether students absorb the knowledge?

Or what could we do to make our online teaching more attractive to students?

The answer is H5P!

👻But, I have to "warn" you in advance. Please promise me! Do not escape because of the complicated edit page!

😇Believe me! You would feel far more satisfied after you create a game.

And the video below would introduce the instruction of this tool, hope this would help you to explore it successfully.

😍Advantages:

-There are plenty of content types for us to choose from. And each of them could satisfy our needs.

For example, crossword puzzles could activate students' autonomy and help them to memorize vocabulary.

-They are categorized into different parts which would be convenient for users to select the suitable one.

-There will be guidance, ("Tutorial" "Example") for each content type on the edit page which would help the users to explore the types more conveniently.

-The feedback setting of this tool surprises me. Users could set different feedback according to the scores that players gain. So, the players would receive relevant feedback based on their score range.

Feedback is part of the interaction between teachers and students. Receiving corresponding feedback would be very useful for the development of students.

😥Limitations:

-As I said above, the editing page is complicated for users. To be honest, I almost give up this tool because of this.

There are several options for users to choose which could confuse the users.

But based on my experience, we could just keep the default options.

-This tool is not for free. It would take 57 dollars per month(will be a  discount if pay for a year) to use it, which I think is quite a lot of expense.

👍But, I would still recommend you to explore this tool if you could find the code for the free trial (30 days).

💗Hope you would enjoy exploring this tool to interact more with your students online.
